Phyllis Eager

Inducted Class of 2001

Phyllis Eager

Phyllis graduated from San Manuel High School in 1957 and attended the University of Arizona. She lettered in basketball, volleyball, and softball while at San Manuel. She started bowling in 1965, and since then has bowled in city, state, and 20 national tournaments. She's been a member of the winning city team four times.

Since 1980 Phyllis has been coaching junior bowlers and has worked with the Special Olympics in bowling for ten years. She has written many articles on bowling-- articles which have appeared in The Arizona Daily Star, Tucson Citizen and Desert Bowler, and has been reporting bowling scores for the past 20 years. Phyllis has been recognized by many organizations for her contributions and promotion of bowling including: Arizona Women Bowling Writers (1990, '92, '94, '96); she received the Dorothy M. Rowe Award for outstanding Arizona Women's Bowling Association member for long-tern service; Tucson Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame (1995); and the Pima County Sports Authority for her outstanding leadership and contributions to sports (1991). In 1997 she was presented with the Mary Jannetto Award by the National Women Bowling Writers for her promotion of local bowling.
