Fred Bull

Fred received his BS and M.Ed from the University of Arizona. In 1951, Fred’s weight training and lifting lead him to the title of “Mr. Arizona.” He was hired by Sunnyside School District in 1953 to teach and develop the school Phys. Ed. program that included elementary and junior high students.
In 1954, Bull was appointed Head Football Coach, in addition to serving as Head Coach in basketball, track and field. He also coached basketball. In1956, Sunnyside had a 7-2 record, the best win-lost record in the City of Tucson. With an 8-2 record in 1957, Fred was named Tucson Citizen’s “Coach of the Year.” In 1961, the school was ranked among the top five teams in the final State Rankings and Fred was listed as a candidate for The Associated Press High School Football Coach of the Year.
Fred advanced from Assistant Principal to Superintendent of Sunnyside Unified School District. In 1992, he had the honor of having the administration building of Sunnyside dedicated as the “Fred T. Bull Administration Building.” Among Fred’s professional honors are Distinguished Citizen Award, U of A Alumni Association; and Arizona’s Administrators Association. He has served on the Board of Director for the United Way, YMCA, The High Tech Council, and many other community organizations and has received numerous awards from those groups. Now retired, Fred operates his own consulting business, assisting in the search for public school administrators.
