Diane Carey
Inducted Class of 2002 – Diving
As a teenager at Tucson High, Diane won no less than 15 first place medals and 10 second place ribbons in diving competition. She was also active in tennis and advanced modern dancing. During the summer, Diane was an active member of the Tucson Aquatic Club, for which she won many city and state titles. She was recognized on the national level while attending the University of Pennsylvania. Diane narrowly missed the Olympic diving team, and finished eighth in the county.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Diane’s busy schedule limited her time for diving. However, Diane Lewis Carey will long be remembered as one of the greatest of Penn’s divers. She recently retired as a career school nurse with TUSD where she exhibited the same high skills and devotion to students as she has as a diver.
