Robert Murray

Robert Murray attended Tucson High School where he lettered in football and baseball. A University of Arizona graduate, he also lettered in baseball where he won acclaim as the school’s first All-American (1950). He also was named Outstanding Amateur Athlete by the Knights of Columbus (1950) and was a finalist in the Phoenix Press Box Association Amateur Athlete of the Year, State of Arizona (1950). He participated in many amateur and semi-pro baseball tournaments.
Professionally, Robert held player contracts with the Los Angeles Angels (1950-53), the Chicago Cubs (1954) and was named outstanding catcher prospect (major league), Class A Western League, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1953. While stationed at Ft. Hood as an Army 2nd Lt., Robert was a baseball player/coach in 1952.
From 1964 through 1968 he continued coaching various Little League, Senior League and high school teams in the Phoenix area.
